a helping hand
Back to School
In Africa, an estimated nine million children will struggle with food insecurity this back-to-school season. Families who were already facing food insecurity are now finding it even harder to cope. Food costs at the grocery store continue to rise. Meanwhile, the recent cut to SNAP benefits has left families and kids with an even more limited budget.
Help The Millions Experiencing Extreme Hunger in Africa
Poverty in Africa is exacerbated by such factors as population density, gender inequality, war, political instability, economic shocks, class conflict, corruption, weather extremes and disease (e.g., AIDS, Ebola, and COVID-19). Because of these factors, Africans regularly deal with acute food shortages and food crises.
Hunger’s Effect on Education
One in eight children in Africa is food insecure, which can threaten a child’s health and well-being. Food insecurity can also impact a child’s education. Not having adequate nutrition makes school a challenge in several ways. And it starts early.
How Feed Villages Helps African Children Facing Hunger
Feed Villages is the largest charity working to end hunger in the Africa. We partner with food banks, food pantries, and local food programs to bring food to people facing hunger. We advocate for policies that create long-term solutions to hunger.
